Forty is the age when you entered in a totally different kind of era. Youth has not gone yet and you are standing at the boundary. You still look younger, but now there is a need to learn some makeup techniques and understanding of colors.
Lipstick is the most, most favorite makeup item of every woman in this world. Your makeup remains incomplete without wearing lipstick. Lipstick adds life and make you instantly polished.
Here, we introduced you some lipstick colors and lip makeup techniques for your 40’s.
Exfoliating your lips:
Dry and chapped lips become more worse on wearing lipstick. So, get rid of your lips flakes by exfoliating your lips. Because as we age, our lips lose oils and plumpness. Take a soft piece of cotton and soak it in coconut oil than rub it on your lips softly. Another useful tip is applying petroleum jelly on your lips at night before you go to sleep and in the next morning scrub it softly with an old tooth brush, your lips will become smooth and shiny.
You can also buy good quality lip scrub as per your choice. If your lips are scaly, avoid dark colors which will exaggerate flakes.
Moisturizing your lips:
As we age, our lips thins, they can become wrinkled and lines develop around our mouth. So, there is a more need of moisturizing. Moisturize your lips daily with lip balm or petroleum jelly, especially before applying lipstick and after removing your lip makeup. In winter, you should a lot of care. Use lip balm before applying lipstick in winter.
Choosing Right Lip color:
Forty years old or over forty women should stick to neutral lip colors which soften your face. Elegant and light color of lipsticks such as fresh pink, light peach, orange pink and nude will help you be more youthful.
Avoid dark lip colors:
Too much dark, deep and bold color on thin lips appears just like two thin lines on your face and your mouth or pout become disappeared. Hot pink and trendy red add years to your age. But if your personal style demands bold and vivid colors than tone down your eye makeup and blush.
Lipstick with Eye-Glasses:
Bright lipstick is especially looking stunning on women who wear eye-glasses. The bold lips balances out the heaviness of the eye-frames.
Skin Tone:
Pinks look great on women with light to medium colored skin. Women with medium skin tone can go a bit darker. Roses, mauves and berries look good on you.
For darker or black skin deep plum, chocolate or red is fabulous. Women with dark can go toward browns and purples and think caramel or walnut for day, plum and wine for evening.
If you have fair skin, consider lipstick shades such as nudes in a slightly apricot, pinks and light corals.
1. Brown lip color looks good on everyone to wear every day.
2. Little pop of color looks better, wear too much pale shade can make you look as if you are wearing no lipstick at all.
Lip liner:
Lip liner is a secret of long lasting color. Always follow your natural lip line. Use ‘Stain’ technique to look natural and fresh, fill your entire lips with outline pencil and put a little gloss on your lips or lipstick of the same color.
The best natural lip shade will just be a shade or two shade darker then your natural lip color.
Preventing lips from bleeding:
Dip a cotton swab in a translucent powder and roll it outside the lip line before you apply lip color. Don’t apply powder to the top of the lipstick, it will muddy the shade.
* Quick way to remove lip stain or lip stick is using petroleum jelly.
Lip Gloss:
Gloss brings more attention to your lips than matte shades. Glosses are great for day, night and especially in summer when you have tan. You can also buy lipsticks containing moisturizer as they are glossy enough and care for lips best.
So, keep smiling and stay stylish in your forties !!!
